Yinson Renewables Working with mana whenua
Our approach
Our approach is to engage with mana whenua as early as possible – often before we know much about a site – to make sure mana whenua have every opportunity to identify their cultural and environmental concerns and aspirations for a site.
Mana whenua and tangata whenua landowners are interested in partnership opportunities for renewable infrastructure on Māori land. If your hapū or iwi wishes to explore hosting a wind farm on your whenua, you can find information about what we look for in Finding a site
Cultural values
We aim to understand and integrate mana whenua values into project plans, and to help realise mana whenua aspirations. We believe that renewable energy has the potential to enhance and further the values and goals of hapū and iwi.
Cultural safety
We’re committed to engaging with mana whenua in ways that are culturally safe. Our team includes tangata whenua experts in tikanga Māori and te reo Māori. We also ensure that tauiwi (non-Māori) team members upskill with cultural competency training.
